Creating stunning interactive content with Genially is super quick and simple thanks to the wide variety of available templates that are ready to use. But that’s not all. Now, if you’re a member of, or work within a workspace, you can create exclusive templates for the members of your workspace to use.

Want to know how to create and manage team templates? In this tutorial we’ll explain:

What is a team template?

A template is a creation that’s been pre-designed by the Genially team, based on a specific topic or content, such as a presentation, guide, or infographic, for example.

A team template is one which has been pre-designed by any member of the team and made into a template by a member that has the role of Owner or Administrator. These templates can be designs that have been adapted to the organization’s brand identity.

Mark an existing genially as a team template

Although any member of the workspace can design a template, only the Owner or Administrator roles have the superpower to mark a genially as a team template.

  • Go to your team workspace.
  • Find the genially you want to make into a template.
  • Hover your mouse over the genially and click on the 3 dots that appear on the top right.
  • Click on the Turn into a team template button. In order to be able to carry out this step, you need to have one of the following roles: Owner, Administrator.

That’s it! Now the genially will be available in the Team templates section of the workspace.

TIP: We recommend storing all the team templates in a folder, in the Common space.

Create a team template from a new genially

If you want to edit a template or start from a blank canvas like an accomplished artist, these are the steps you have to follow:

  • Go to your team workspace.
  • Go to the space where you want to create your template.
  • Click on the Create genially button.
  • On the screen that appears, you’ll see the categories of available templates in Genially.
    1. You can create your own template from a Genially creation. Click on the template you want to use and then on the Use this template button.
    2. You can also start designing the template from scratch, by clicking on the Blank creation option. Select the dimensions of the template and click on Create.
  • In the Editor, design the template or make the necessary changes depending on the option you’ve chosen.
  • Go back to the main Panel of your workspace and find the template you created.
  • Hover your mouse over the genially and click on the 3 dots that appear on the top right.
  • Click on the Turn into a team template button. In order to be able to carry out this step, you need to have one of the following roles: Owner, Administrator.

Edit team templates step by step

You can edit the team templates whenever you need to to keep them up to date. Simply:

  • Go to your team workspace.
  • Click on the Team templates section.
  • You can rename the template by clicking on the 3 dots that appear on the top right when you hover your mouse over it.
  • Click on the template you want to edit and then click Edit this template.
  • Make the necessary changes in the Editor and save them.

All set! Your template has been updated and will continue to be available in the Team templates section.

NOTE: Members with the role of Editor can only edit the template from the space in which it is stored.

Delete team templates step by step

If you no longer need a team template, you can remove this genially from the Team templates section (note that this action can only be performed by members with an Owner or Administrator role):

  • Go to your team workspace.
  • Click on the Team templates section.
  • Hover your mouse over the genially and click on the 3 dots that appear on the top right.
  • Click on Delete this team template.

This genially will remain in its corresponding space, but will not be displayed in the Team templates section.

NOTE: Members with the role of Editor can only delete the template from the space in which it is stored.
