Did you know that you can insert audio in your geniallys? You can add narration or give your creations a soundtrack. The audio will only play on the page where you’ve inserted it and you can configure it to best suit your needs. In this tutorial we’ll show you how to:

Insert an audio from a URL

If you have a Free plan, this is the only way for you to insert audios in your creation. To do so, follow these simple steps:

1. Go to the Editor and click on the ‘Insert’ section, in the left sidebar.

2. Then click on the ‘Audio’ tab and paste the link to your audio file in the space provided, labeled ‘URL’.

3. When the audio has loaded in Genially, click on it to place it where you want on the canvas. The audio menu will open to the right, allowing you to configure it.

NOTE: Only MP3 files can be inserted this way. They are easily recognized by the file extension (the last 4 characters of the link) which is .mp3, as in this example: https://cld2099web.audiovideoweb.com/va90web25003/companions/Foundations%20of%20Rock/13.01.mp3

Configure your audio

By default, all the menu options are deactivated so that you can configure your audio the way you want it. These are the options:

1. Replace: replace your audio with another.

2. Autoplay: if you activate this option, the audio will play automatically when you open the page it’s on.

However, due to browser security measures to improve user experience, the audio is automatically muted when accessing Genially. It is necessary to click on the sound button to listen to it.

We therefore recommend that audio files with autoplay configured be placed on the second page of a genially or later.

3. Loop: if you activate this option, the audio will play on a loop until the person who is viewing your genially changes pages.

4. Hide audio player: if you activate this option, the audio player will remain hidden while your genially is being viewed.

5. Background audio: if you activate this option, all of the previous options will be activated.

6. Shorten the duration: you can cut your audio to specify the exact moment where you’d like it to begin and end. You can learn more about that here.

Lastly, it’s also possible to record an audio directly from the Editor. If you’d like to know how, you can check out this tutorial.
