You and I both know it: order is a wonderful thing. Since organization is a must in any self-respecting project, in this tutorial we explain how to organize your space in folders to work much more quickly and efficiently. This way you can organize your creations by theme and locate them more easily on your dashboard. Managing folders allows you to:
- Create and delete folders.
- Edit the name of a folder.
- Add folders to the Starred section.
- Move folders.
- Work as a team with Genially.
Create and delete folders
Quick and easy. Folders can be created in just two steps:
- From the Dashboard, click the Create folder button in the upper left area.
- Type a name for the folder and click Create. You can also customize your folder by adding an emoji, it helps a lot in identifying them! Check out how to do it:
To delete folders:
- Open the folder’s dropdown menu options.
- Choose the Delete option.
- Confirm the action in the pop-up window by clicking Delete.
Note: if you delete a folder you will not be able to recover it, however, you will be able to recover the geniallys it contained from the bin. We will show you how to do it in this tutorial.
Edit the name of a folder
If you misspelled the title when creating a folder or want to rename it, don't panic. It is easier than learning the 0 times table:
- Open the folder’s dropdown menu options.
- Choose the Rename option.
- Edit the text and save the changes.
Add a folder to the Starred section
The Starred section allows you to have the most important folders at hand. It is located in the left sidebar of your dashboard, so you can access them more easily. To add folders to the Starred section:
- Click on the three dots icon of the folder you want to add to display the options menu.
- Choose the ‘Add to Starred’ option.
To remove a folder from the Starred section, hover the mouse over its name in the left column. Click on the icon that appears and you’re all set!
Move folders
Once you create a folder, you can leave it in your dashboard and even include it in the Starred section, located in the left sidebar. You also have the option to move it to another folder you have previously created. To do this, you just have to:
- Open the folder’s dropdown menu options and select Move.
- Choose the folder where you want to move it.
You can also create the destination folder at the same time by choosing the + button, which appears in the lower left corner.
Work as a team with Genially
In Genially collaborative workspaces, users with the roles Owner, Administrator and Editor can create, rename, delete, move folders between spaces or add geniallys to a folder.
On the other hand, users with the Guest role do not have this option, however they can view the workspace content inside the folders.
Note: in collaborative workspaces there is no Starred section, so you cannot mark a folder as Starred.
